INDIVIDUAL THERAPY

When you look at your life, do you see yourself in the picture? Healing requires you to learn where you are in relation to your needs, wants, and social environment—an active rather than a passive element of the big picture. Individual therapy, in our approach, begins with helping you locate and strengthen your sense of self, which can be buried beneath trauma, negative cognitions, and dissociation from your own life.

Accumulated pain, negative thinking, and stress get to all of us sometimes. Without resiliency, autonomy, and a strong sense of self, it’s easy to be defined by these internal and external pressures. Individual counseling can help you reclaim function, direction, and happiness.

TREATMENT PROCESS

Our approaches to individual counseling are based in your brain’s own strengths. Therapy based on memory retrieval and reprocessing—EMDR—isolates the roots of your negative cognitions and helps you challenge the harmful thoughts that give rise to depression, anxiety, and other common mental health problems. Neurofeedback puts you into control of your brain’s arousal patterns, letting you feel what it’s like to be calm and empowered. Psychoeducation and talk therapy help you better understand, benefit from, and participate in the overall process of healing. Tension-releasing exercises (TRE) help you release traces of somatic trauma carried by parts of your body, giving you the physical relaxation necessary to complement mind- and brain-based healing.

We’ll help you see how and where you fit in to the picture of your own life, equip you with the tools and knowledge needed for self-direction, and give you the necessary emotional support on every step of the journey. In doing so, we work with the body, the mind, and the brain.
